Let's face it. Not all of us have the capacity to purchase top-of-the-line office furniture for our home offices. It will simply eat into our capital and that we cannot afford to do. Well, you can always go for discount furniture for your home office, of course!
Corner Office Desks
If you think that inexpensive home office furniture is too cheap-looking to even be given a second glance, think again. These are actually good quality furniture that, for one reason or another, was put on sale and offered for substantial discounts.

Still, if you think that cheap office furnishings for the home still looks cheap, then here are tips to make them look more expensive than they are. All you really need is a bit of work and plenty of flair and you should end up with what looks to be million-dollar office furniture.
Apply Dyes and Wood Stains:
If you have a knack for do-it-yourself projects, then you can transform your discount home office furniture into elegant pieces of art with the use of wood dyes and stains. Of course, you have to experiment on samples before actually putting dye and stain to wood. Otherwise, you might just sorely regret ever touching the already fine craftsmanship of your office furnishings which was bought at a discount.
You can also combine a more recent purchase of inexpensive office furnishings with a more expensive wood, if and when you are thinking of expanding on the original unit. The trick is in choosing two pairs of different woods with almost the same properties. Just to give a few examples:
Although willow is not as dense and as durable willow, both have almost identical grain patterns, heartwood and coloration.
With the use of a 50-50 mix of golden amber maple and natural antique cherry dyes, you can actually closely mimic the color and grain patterns between inexpensive Philippine mahogany and Honduran mahogany. Watch your discount home office furniture transform into a more expensive-looking one in an instant.
The dense grain patterns and creamy color of birch closely resembles that of maple with little to no staining necessary.
Better yet, you can always hire an experienced carpenter to do the job for you.
Organize for Maximum Effect:
Often, too, transforming your affordable office furniture for the home into elegant furniture requires organizing them for maximum effect. In a way, you are highlighting the good qualities of the furniture while hiding its less desirable properties.
For example, instead of placing your desk in one corner of the room, you should place it in the center with a few strategic bookcases behind it. This way, you can achieve the effect that the desk deserves to be the center of attention, thus, transforming it from discount home office furniture into an elegant centerpiece.
Better yet, you should decorate the room such that it gives off a professional vibe despite its small size. For example, instead of cheap plastic office equipment, try to splurge a little on steel equipment that will add professional polish to the room, not to mention pay off in the long run due to its durability. You can browse through magazines and online sites for such an effect.
There are many ways to make your discount home office furniture look more expensive than they are. You will be rewarded with your ingenuity with a work-conducive environment.
